If you decide on a homebirth ...

- you MUST know what to do from start to end especially if it's your 1st time doing it. Reading and watching videos of how woman give birth naturally won't do. That is why OB-GYNs have to undergo years of training to deliver babies. Every day and every second counts!

- if you and your baby is well and alive at the end of it GOOD
if not know that your doula/ hypnobirthing facilitator are not regulated by any organisation/government/law. That's means no one can do nothing about them if anything goes wrong! it's 100% on you to place your trust in them. when you do not come out of it alive, think of your poor husband and family. when your baby doesn't come out alive, nothing you can do, pity who? or when you do come out of it alive without baby, pity your broken body. neither the doula/hypnobirthing facilitator can go through the healing process for you - in fact you wouldn't want to ever hear of that person again!

- does your body or baby know what to do.. really? big babies are not a problem..really? what if baby is stuck and just can't come out?what if baby is in distress? what if umbilical cord is around his/her neck? how will you monitor baby's heartbeat at home? based on just baby's movements - how would you know what are 'normal' movements? just trust your body and gut?ARE YOU SURE? WHO SAID SO?

- your confidence can suffer bruises but not a baby in utero

At the end of the day, is it so important for you to give birth at home without PROFESSIONAL help? REALLY?

Would you rather put safety above all else? would you rather put your needs above your own life and that of your baby? you may even feel that you are making the best decision for your baby and you ....

THINK ABOUT IT AGAIN and AGAIN

If you feel like attempting it then run to the hospital at the last minute ... will you be giving the doctors a fair chance to make sure everything is alright. they are not GOD.

If you have had a bad hospital experience -> change hospitals, change gynae
If you have had a bad home birth -> move elsewhere? change helper aka your husband?
Sure doctors make mistakes too. so choose one wisely. Then also find out who's your gynae's replacement for when he's not around. Talk with the 'real' midwives at the hospital, not just some nurse at the maternity/delivery ward, find out how it works when a woman in labour steps into the delivery ward *demand to know every step

Choose a gynae whose 'nurse'/administrative staff (that fixes your appointments with your gynae/manages the clinic) who would allow you to speak to your Gynae over the phone. AND don't simply take the 'nurse'/administrative staff's advice over the phone or the counter - they might not know what they are talking about.
